Our decorative glass tiles are opulent and imaginative, ranging from handblown bubble glass from Bohemian workshops to luminescent swimming-pool brick mosaics with their regular rows of rectangular tesserae in turquoise, sea green and aqua.

Other materials are very effectively combined with glass to create the ultimate in luxury surfaces including copper, silver or gold leaf and marble is frequently inlaid with glass to contrast durability with translucency. Through a specialist collaboration, we also offer recycled glass surfaces that are stylish and eco-friendly.

Decorative Glass Tiles, Colour and Light

Glass has a long history as a light-responsive decorative surface. Byzantine mosaics used coloured glass tesserae, including examples incorporating gold and silver leaf, to create richly reflective compositions. Bohemian glassmaking developed its own distinguished tradition of blown, cut and decorated glass, and De Ferranti's bubble-glass surfaces bring that workshop language into contemporary interiors.

The raised Effervescence textures behave almost like fields of lenses, breaking illumination into innumerable highlights rather than presenting a flat reflective plane. De Ferranti's Glass Mosaic and Glass Pebble Mosaics collections offer related approaches to colour, tessellation and light.

Specifying Glass Surfaces for Projects

When specifying decorative glass tiles, review samples under the lighting intended for the room. Transparent, iridescent, metallic and strongly textured surfaces can alter with viewing angle, surrounding colour and illumination. Sample review also helps establish grout tone, junctions and relationships with adjacent stone, timber or metal.

For natural translucency, Rock Crystal provides a mineral-led counterpart, while Mirrors, Bevelled, Painted and Verre Églomisé explores another important branch of reflective and decorated glass.
