Treble in Copper Leaf is a copper leaf glass mosaic created in response to requests for imaginative uses of copper in interiors. Shown here in copper and glass, the innovative Treble pattern can be used horizontally or vertically and, for variation, can be created in other materials including stone. The copper leaf is layered in glass, so these tiles can be used in wet areas such as kitchens and bathrooms.
The photographed surface is formed from elongated, gently waisted glass elements arranged in a repeating interlocking rhythm. Copper leaf beneath the glass gives the field a warm metallic glow, while slight tonal differences between individual pieces keep the repeat from feeling mechanically uniform. The curving profile also changes the way the pattern reads according to orientation, making the horizontal or vertical setting an important design decision rather than a purely practical one.
Within the collection, Effervescence in Pale Gold and Effervescence in Honey Gold provide warmer reflective glass surfaces with a completely different bubble texture. De Ferranti’s Glass Mosaic collection offers further approaches to tessellated glass, while Metal Mosaics can be considered where a project calls for a more explicitly metallic surface.
A copper leaf glass mosaic should be sampled at the intended orientation and under the proposed lighting before setting-out is finalised. Warm illumination can deepen the copper colour, while cooler light may sharpen the contrast between metallic leaf and transparent glass. Where Treble is specified in kitchens, bathrooms or other wet areas, confirm the complete substrate, adhesive, grout and edge-detail system for the particular project. Cuts and terminations should also be planned so the elongated repeat resolves cleanly.
