The Creme Horta mosaic, a stone mosaic by The Artistic Tile Company, uses the botanical forms of Art Nouveau as inspiration and contrasts polished Crema Marfil limestone background, executed in mosaic form, and polished Thassos snow white marble lines and water jet cut dots.
As these tiles are custom-made, a wide variety of materials and colours can be used – see Bijou Horta, Bleu Horta, Blanc Horta, Ciel Horta and Sable Horta.
The close relationship between Crema Marfil and Thassos makes this the most tonal Horta colourway. Instead of relying on dark outline, the design is read through the contrast between warm cream stone, white marble lines and waterjet-cut dots. The scrolling geometry remains connected to the botanical movement of Art Nouveau.
Within Waterjet Mosaics, Creme is suited to schemes that need pattern without strong colour contrast. The Stone and Marble Mosaics collection gives related options where a project requires surrounding fields, borders or a quieter tessellated stone language.
For the Creme Horta mosaic, review several modules before fixing so variations in Crema Marfil and the continuity of the white linework can be balanced. Grout should be tested with the actual material, especially where excessive contrast could make the sheet geometry more visible than the intended repeat. Where Creme is paired with larger-format Crema Marfil or another warm stone, compare current lots before ordering. The close tonal relationship is part of the design, so small shifts in background colour can affect how clearly the white waterjet line is perceived.
