The basin is no longer merely functional, it is a sculptural centrepiece capable of defining an entire interior. At De Ferranti, each basin is conceived as an object of art, where rare materials, decorative skill and craftsmanship converge.
Our basins are created in an exceptional range of materials, from rare and unusual marbles to richly veined limestone and hand-carved natural stone. We also work with rock crystal, rose quartz and other precious substrates, transforming them into luminous vessels that capture and refract light.
Surfaces may be lined in micro-mosaic, inlaid with contrasting marbles, or encrusted with semi-precious stones such as lapis lazuli, tiger’s eye and malachite. Metal detailing, carved ornament and bespoke texturing further expand the design possibilities.
Ceramic and lava stone basins introduce colour and painterly expression. Each ceramic basin is carefully moulded, entirely hand-painted and then glazed before being fired at approximately 1200°C, sealing the decoration beneath a durable vitrified surface. Lava stone offers a robust volcanic base that can be enamelled or hand-painted and kiln-fired to achieve a luminous, glass-like finish.
In addition to new commissions, we source and reclaim historic basins, sometimes centuries old, restoring and reinterpreting them for contemporary settings while preserving their provenance and character.
Minimal or richly ornamented, contemporary or classical, every basin is a bespoke statement in material and artistry.
