The Koi ceramic basin is entirely hand-painted with two koi moving through layered blue water, curling waves and stylised cloud forms. The design turns the inside of the bowl into a narrative composition, using the curvature of the basin to carry the eye around fish, foam-like pattern and shifting tones of cobalt and blue.

The ceramic form is carefully moulded, then painted by hand before being glazed and fired at approximately 1200°C. One koi is rendered in softer ivory and blush tones, while the other uses deeper bronze and slate colouring, with articulated scales and fins. A warm golden rim, punctuated with small dark marks, frames the bowl. The first two gallery views show distinct arrangements of the fish and waves, reinforcing the individually painted character of the work.
