This lynx stone tile combines sandstone and black marble in a flowing striped design from The Serengeti Collection. The collection contains four animal-pattern surfaces. This polished example is shown in opus sectile , with inlay and mosaic interpretations also available for projects where a different degree of texture or joint expression is preferred.

Opus sectile is an ancient Roman technique in which shaped pieces of stone are assembled to create an image or pattern, generally using larger and more individually cut elements than traditional mosaic tesserae .

Lynx Stone Tile with Flowing Stripes

Lynx is defined by many narrow black bands that bend and taper across the ochre sandstone field. The lines are less rigid than a conventional stripe and shift in width and direction, giving the surface a sense of movement. At distance, the pattern reads almost like drawn brushwork; close up, the contrast between black marble and warm stone becomes more pronounced.
