This chocolate brogue leather border is a hand-cut tile in deep chocolate, finished with a brogue-style stitched and perforated detail to frame floors with tailored, saddlery-grade craftsmanship. Part of De Ferranti’s Hide Collection, it is made from English saddlery leather, cut to shape and hand dyed to a rich chocolate tone. The surface is hand finished to create a subtle antiqued patina, with the leather’s natural grain and tonal movement left visible.
Mounted to a stable marine ply base, the tile is designed for interior floors and walls. It works particularly well as a perimeter border or tramline to define herringbone, parquet and panelled layouts, and can form a transition between leather fields and materials such as stone, metal or timber. As a natural material, variation in tone and grain is expected and contributes to the finished effect.
The brogue-inspired edge gives the border a graphic role as well as a material one. It can be paired with Chocolate Paviers for a square-format field, or used to frame English Brogue Herringbone Leather where the repeated perforated detail creates continuity between border and floor. The result recalls traditional English leatherworking without turning the surface into a literal reproduction of footwear or saddlery.
Before installation, review samples for depth of chocolate colour, patina and grain, then establish the border position in relation to doorways, thresholds and furniture. For a broader comparison of modular leather surfaces, explore the Hide Collection and De Ferranti’s metal floor and wall tiles.
