Our Siena terracotta tiles are inspired by the leathery, timeworn fired-clay pavements associated with the medieval town of Siena. Handmade in deep chocolate-brown clay, the collection retains fingerprints and handling marks that make the method of production visible rather than disguising it beneath a uniform finish.

The collection moves between long brick formats and broader rectangular tiles, allowing the same material language to be adapted to different scales of room and pattern. Used in straight courses, stacked bonds, herringbone or more measured wall cladding, the dark clay gives a grounded surface that can sit comfortably beside stone, plaster and timber. Seal and wax the terracotta to enrich the colour and encourage a deeper, leathery patina, or retain a drier finish where a more mineral appearance is preferred.

Review current samples across several pieces before final specification, particularly where the project depends on a consistent dark register. Confirm the intended bond, joint width, sealer or wax, substrate and exterior exposure with the installer. Natural colour and handling variation should remain visible in the finished field.

The darker clay is especially responsive to finish, so sample approval should consider the surface both before and after the proposed wax or sealing treatment.
