This Terra di Sienna brick takes its character from handmade chocolate-brown clay and the leathery, timeworn fired-earth pavements associated with medieval Siena. Subtle fingerprints and handling marks remain visible in the clay, giving the surface a direct record of artisan production. The bricks can be used for interior and exterior flooring as well as wall cladding where correctly specified. Sealing and waxing enrich the chocolate tone and encourage a deeper leathery patina, while leaving the material more natural produces a drier, more mineral finish.
Fingerprints and handling marks remain visible in the clay, giving the long brick format a direct connection to its making. The chocolate tone can be enriched by sealing and waxing for a darker, leathery patina, or kept drier and more mineral where a quieter finish is preferred.
The brick format can support simple courses, herringbone or other directional layouts, but the chosen bond should be resolved before quantities are finalised. Review current samples for colour and surface variation and confirm the finishing system with the installer, especially where interior and exterior areas meet.
Because this is a handmade surface, the Terra di Sienna brick should be judged across several pieces rather than from one isolated sample.
Within the same collection, compare Terra di Siena – Dark Chocolate Brick and Terra di Siena – Dark Chocolate Patinated Tile for alternative treatments of colour, module or surface. The wider Terracotta Floors & Walls category provides the broader clay context, while Reclaimed Antique Terracotta offers a complementary reference for material-led flooring.
