This dark polychrome stone mosaic is a random assembly of mosaic fragments, hand cut and placed into a symphony of colour. Simple and eye catching, the design shows a random field mosaic. Each stone is carefully selected, cut and then assembled by hand. The slight indentations in the mosaic field enhance the beauty of this mosaic despite its simplicity. Of particular interest is the irregular nature of the small tesserae, they sing and dance. Although randomly placed, there is much to be said about artistic licence here: no single creation will ever be the same. Only the discerning eye would pick this up, a small detail with maximum impact. As is the case with all the De Ferranti Mosaic collections, we are able to fully customise the materials and colours, and tailor the mosaics to your space, creating unique and personalised pieces.
Black and charcoal establish the dominant field, but the close view reveals grey, green and blue-grey tesserae alongside sparse terracotta, ochre and red notes. Those small interruptions give depth without weakening the dark overall reading. Field Mosaic – 5469H shifts towards a cooler green-grey field, while Field Mosaic – 5469J is more nearly monochrome black. The Marble & Onyx Collection can support selection of adjoining dark stone and veined marble.
A dark polychrome stone mosaic benefits from reviewing several sheets together because small bright fragments become more noticeable across a large area. Agree whether these accents should be evenly dispersed or allowed to form occasional concentrations. Grout choice can soften the tessera network or sharpen it. For floors, pools and exterior settings, confirm substrate preparation, sealing, slip performance and exposure suitability as part of the complete installation specification.
