Skins & Hides – Tanned Leathers

Skins are nature’s original luxury surface - tactile, imperfect, and quietly magnetic under light. This category brings together heritage hide materials and contemporary interpretations, from soft vellum and pebbled shagreen to scaled snake and fish skins, plus a curated range of other leathers for architectural and furniture-led applications.

Our Skins and Hide Surfaces collection is designed for projects that want texture you can feel, not just see. Each material carries its own signature character: vellum (parchment) offers a creamy translucency and gentle clouding, shagreen (stingray) brings a refined, micro-beaded grain, snakeskin introduces elegant scale geometry, and fish skins deliver a tighter, architectural pattern with subtle natural shimmer. Alongside these, we source and fabricate other leathers selected for depth of colour, surface nuance, and the way they age over time.

These materials are typically specified for furniture, cabinetry, wall panels, doors, inlays, and decorative accents - anywhere a surface is meant to invite touch and hold attention at close range. Many are available as pre-assembled panels to simplify installation and ensure consistent alignment across larger runs, with layout options such as herringbone, briquette, parquet de Versailles, and large-format paneling.

Whether specified in real hide or high-quality faux alternatives, the focus remains the same: crafted tactility, controlled opulence, and surfaces that elevate a space through detail, grain, and light play.

Straw marquetry, bamboo marquetry, mica, vellum, shagreen, selenite use was pioneered by Jean-Michel Frank for interiors, architectural finishes and furniture. He was ahead of his time.
