Semi-Precious Tile & Slab

De Ferranti’s Semi-Precious Tile and Slab Collection brings together the rarest hard-stone materials used in architectural surface design - not as ornament, but as the surface itself. These are stones formed under extreme pressure and time: onyx, agate, serpentine, lapis lazuli, red jasper, porphyry, rose quartz, aventurine, carnelian, petrified wood, and other mineral treasures that carry their own colour, translucency, and natural patterning.

The collection spans two expressions. In tile form, semi-precious materials appear as tesserae in mosaics, as decorative inlay within field tiles, or as borders and inserts that bring a jewelled contrast to marble, limestone, ceramic, and cement surfaces. In slab form, the same materials are cut from solid blocks and finished for tabletops, wall cladding, vanity tops, floors, and bespoke architectural panels - sometimes left as pure natural stone, and sometimes further enhanced with inlaid fossils, mixed minerals, or precision detailing that turns geology into graphic design.

Many stones within the collection respond beautifully to light. Certain onyxes and agates can be backlit to reveal internal veining and layered colour, transforming the material from surface to atmosphere. Whether used sparingly as an accent or expansively as a statement wall or slab, De Ferranti’s semi-precious surfaces are for interiors that want genuine rarity, depth, and the unmistakable energy of the earth made permanent.
