Noir Fossil Petrified Wood is dark petrified wood in deep chocolate and espresso tones, with ancient timber structures preserved through mineralisation. Each cross-section reveals organic growth patterns, fractured areas and crystalline detail, giving the surface a dense geological character.

Petrified wood forms as buried timber is progressively mineralised, preserving aspects of the original structure while the organic material is replaced or filled by minerals. Here, large circular cross-sections contrast with smaller fragmented areas in a darker stone matrix. Veins of calcite and subtle crystalline deposits move through the field, adding lighter lines and depth.

Selection is central to the material because no two slabs repeat the same fossil structure. De Ferranti lists brushed, honed and polished finishes, with uses including statement walls, feature flooring, reception desks, dining tables and other made-to-measure interior installations.
