This green polychrome mosaic field is a random assembly of mosaic fragments, hand cut and placed by hand. Simple and eye catching, the design shows a random field mosaic. Each stone is carefully selected, cut and then assembled by hand. The slight indentations in the mosaic field enhance the beauty of this mosaic despite its simplicity. Of particular interest is the irregular nature of the small tesserae, they sing and dance. Although randomly placed, there is much to be said about artistic licence here: no single creation will ever be the same. Only the discerning eye would pick this up, a small detail with maximum impact. As is the case with all the De Ferranti Mosaic collections, we are able to fully customise the materials and colours, and tailor the mosaics to your space, creating unique and personalised pieces.
Deep green-grey and olive tones form the dominant field, with charcoal, cream, ochre and brown pieces creating a dispersed mineral pattern. The palette is earthy rather than brightly coloured, giving the surface depth while retaining a strong natural-stone reading. Field Mosaic – 5469O places more emphasis on black and charcoal, while Field Mosaic – 5469H provides another green-grey comparison. The Marble & Onyx Collection can support coordination with larger dark or green-toned stone elements.
For a green polychrome mosaic field, several sheets should be reviewed together so the ochre and cream accents do not form accidental clusters against the darker green base. Lighting can pull the field towards olive, charcoal or grey, so project samples should be considered alongside joinery, metals and adjoining stone. Grout choice can either soften or sharpen the small-scale tessera network. For floors, pools and warm-climate exterior settings, confirm sealing, substrate preparation, slip performance and exposure suitability.
