Specification should begin with a representative sample and a clear understanding of the selected product's construction. Some designs use real metal over a resin substrate and arrive mesh-mounted, while others use individually cast metal units, so fixing, edge treatment, substrate and joint strategy should be confirmed for the chosen mosaic rather than assumed across the category.
