This Mughal mirror mosaic is built from 5 x 5 cm mirrored tesserae, creating a larger-format reflective grid with ordered rhythm. Inspired by mirrored rooms associated with Mughal interiors, the design uses hand-prepared mirror elements to scatter light rather than behave as one continuous flat mirror plane.

The mirrored pieces are derived from blown glass forms that are silvered, hand cut and fixed onto a stone base. Slight variation from one piece to the next gives the grid a gently animated character. In the featured surface, pale silver and warm grey squares are separated by fine joints, producing a controlled pattern that remains reflective without becoming visually harsh.

The 5 x 5 cm module gives the mosaic more visual weight than small tessera work and makes the geometry legible from across a room.
