This peacock plume inlay panel is a contemporary reinterpretation of a Roman mosaic motif associated with El Jem in Tunisia, translated into semi-precious inserts on an ivory marble field. Fine red, green, blue and warm-toned elements form stylised feathers, stems and curling lines across the pale ground, giving the composition both pictorial delicacy and strong rhythmic movement.

The design does not imitate a conventional feather literally. Instead, it reduces the plume into eyes, branching stems, arcs and small tessellated colour changes. A central eye-like form is ringed with blue and green, while elongated red leaves and sweeping coloured bands connect the surrounding motifs. The ivory marble acts as negative space, allowing each fine insertion to remain legible and giving the panel the clarity associated with ancient floor and wall compositions.
