Acid Rain is a glass pebble mosaic available in several colours, from reds to green, blues to yellows, black to transparent. Typically 12% metallic is added to achieve a translucent effect. Pebble sizes range from 1 to 2cm in diameter. Supplied on fibrous mesh in sheets of 400x400mm and 500x500mm, it can also be supplied and installed in situ by our team of experts.

Colour and Light in a Glass Pebble Mosaic

The rounded glass elements give Acid Rain a very different character from cut tesserae. Their convex surfaces catch light from changing angles, so a single-colour field can read as both colour and texture rather than as a flat plane. The first gallery view shows glossy crimson pebbles scattered across a pale ground, with highlights emphasising their droplet-like form. Colour selection, the proportion of metallic material and the surrounding grout should therefore be reviewed together when developing the finished surface.

Planning Mesh, Grout and Placement

For a glass pebble mosaic, sheet size, joint alignment and grout colour can materially change how continuous the field appears. Samples are useful for assessing translucency, reflections and the visual relationship between individual pebbles before quantities are confirmed. Where the design is to be installed in situ rather than supplied on mesh, the intended pattern, edge conditions and interfaces with adjoining materials should form part of the project review.
