Neisha Crosland
Cosmos Collection – Model 2

The metallic ceramic mosaic in Cosmos Collection Model 2 draws on the geometry of the natural world, translating orbital rhythm and cellular structure into a refined, interlocking ceramic composition. Model 2 pairs softly undulating white grounds with inset circular forms, creating a subtle sense of movement across the surface.

Each rounded insert is finished in elemental metallustre glazes – aged bronze, muted copper, smoky steel blue, antique gold and soft patinated pewter tones. The metallic surfaces range from gently crackled to softly brushed, catching and absorbing light in different ways, while the surrounding pale ceramic fields provide contrast and calm.

The interplay between matte and lustre, cool and warm, smooth and lightly textured gives the surface a distinctly retro-modern character – reminiscent of mid-century design yet entirely contemporary in execution.

Created exclusively for De Ferranti by our in-house couture ceramicist, every Cosmos tile is handmade and made to special commission. As a result, slight tonal and textural variations occur naturally, ensuring that each installation carries the mark of the maker and the individuality of true craftsmanship.

Softened Geometry in the Metallic Ceramic Mosaic

The metallic ceramic mosaic uses rounded inserts and pale linking forms to create a measured cellular rhythm. This rounded square mosaic appears softer than a strict grid, while the handmade modular ceramic retains structure across a commissioned surface.

Cosmos Ceramic Tiles – Model 1 uses domed circles and a shaped border, while Cosmos Ceramic Tiles – Model 3 creates a denser constellation. Orbit Ring Modules in Charcoal and Ivory develops linked rings, and Hammered Brass Briquettes – Texture I offers a real-metal comparison beside this metal-lustre tile.

Commissioning the Metallic Ceramic Mosaic

The metallic ceramic mosaic should be developed in relation to the completed wall. Confirm colour distribution, border treatment, mounting and joints, and assess the commissioned ceramic surface under the intended lighting before production.
