Our ‘in-house’ couture ceramicist has created this beautiful collectopn, known as the ‘Cosmos Collection’ exclusively for De Ferranti.

Inspired by the gerometry of the natural world, cosmos comes in several versions, all of which use elemental metal lustre glazes. Built up from interlocking shapes, these ceramic mosaics have a very retro feel to them.

Each order is to special commission as these are completely handmade and made to order.

Natural Geometry in the Metallic Circle Mosaic

The metallic circle mosaic combines convex discs with pale concave links, allowing highlights and shadows to alternate across the composition. This circular ceramic mosaic reads as a single commissioned field while retaining the handmade variation associated with elemental lustre glazes. The changing lustre is amplified by relief, because each domed unit meets the light at a different angle.

Cosmos Collection – Model 2 replaces the circles with softened square forms, while Cosmos Ceramic Tiles – Model 3 creates a denser field of discs. Orbit Ring Modules in Charcoal and Ivory offers a related circular ceramic rhythm, and 24k Yellow Gold Mosaic provides a genuine gold-glass reference beside this handmade lustre mosaic.

Commissioning the Metallic Circle Mosaic

The metallic circle mosaic should be planned around the final panel dimensions, edge treatment and distribution of colour. Review the domed metallic tile under side lighting, and confirm mounting, joints, substrate and installation weight for the commissioned ceramic panel before production. A larger mock-up should establish colour balance and border behaviour before the final commission is released.
