Fresh bamboo poles are sun-dried, treated for pest resistance and carefully crushed to reveal their linear grain. The fibres are then arranged in fan-like formations and fastened to a substrate using adhesive and mechanical fixing. Grout is applied and the surface is ground to a smooth, tactile finish.
The result is a dynamic, directional texture that plays beautifully with light, echoing the precision of traditional straw marquetry while offering greater strength and versatility.
Supplied in its natural tone, the panel can also be stained or dyed to achieve bespoke colours.
Sizes: 10 × 10 cm to 100 × 100 cm
Thickness: Approx. 10 mm for tiles; 10–19 mm for wall panels (depending on specification)
Straw marquetry use was pioneered by Jean-Michel Frank for interiors, architectural finishes and furniture.
