This hand-painted tole panel features a flowing floral vine motif, shown in two editions: warm copper for a glowing richness and deep iron for a more dramatic, antique contrast.
Executed in the traditional tole manner, the design is built through layered lacquer or enamel finishes, then hand painted with fine linework, shaded petals and delicate highlights that give the flowers a sculptural quality.
The copper version is warm and luminous, while the iron version lets the floral elements stand out strongly against a dark ground. Both retain the same botanical composition, allowing the background metal and finish to alter the mood without changing the design itself.
Suitable interior uses include walls, murals, screens, overmantels, cabinet fronts, door panels and decorative furniture elements. Subtle variation in brushwork and tone is part of the hand-painted character, and project-specific palettes, scales or alternative motifs can be discussed.
Tôle peinte became an important 18th-century decorative language as European workshops developed painted and varnished metalware in response to the appeal of East Asian lacquer and japanning. Floral sprays, chinoiserie and neoclassical ornament became closely associated with the medium. Here, looping stems create a horizontal rhythm, with cream and ochre flowers, olive leaves and small red accents particularly vivid against the dark iron edition.
The parent Tole Work / Painted & Lacquered Metal collection provides the wider context. Embossed & Repoussé Relief Work in Metal explores raised metalwork, while Metal Surfaces with Texture provides related references for beaten, patinated and sculptural finishes.
The hand-painted tole panel should be set out as a complete elevation before ordering. Confirm scale, crop positions, edge conditions and orientation, and review copper and iron samples under the intended lighting. Where custom colour or scale is proposed, approve a representative sample before production.
