This abalone mosaic tile is made from 1 cm squares, butt-jointed for a clean, seamless grid, with a surface that shimmers through oceanic colour shifts. Refined geometry contains the wild natural patterning of the shell, so each square remains visibly individual while the field reads as one continuous surface.

Cut into 10 mm x 10 mm squares, each abalone piece is laid edge-to-edge to minimise visible joint lines. Up close, every tessera carries its own natural banding and iridescence, moving through sea-greens, soft silvers, petrol blues and warm amber flashes as the light changes. From a distance the abalone mosaic tile reads almost like a woven textile; close in, the nacre becomes richly detailed and topographic.
