Midnight blue, contrasting with the shimmer and iridescence of Mother of Pearl, makes this lapis mother of pearl mosaic a statement of luxury for swimming pools and spas. Lapis wave mosaic with wavy bands of hand-cut mother of pearl. Supplied over a flexible mesh. Each section interlocks to form a seamless installation. De Ferranti’s Mosaics can be fully customised to meet our clients’ requirements.
Viewed as a field, the blue tesserae move through cobalt, ultramarine and mineral-flecked tones, crossed by pale iridescent wave lines. Lapis lazuli and shell have a long history of being combined in decorative inlay, including objects from ancient Mesopotamia. Here, the pairing becomes a contemporary mosaic surface with a strong sense of movement.
Within this collection, Lapis Mare Wave Mosaic offers another flowing composition, while Lapis Imperial Greek Key Mosaic introduces classical geometry. For related materials, see Shells & Mother of Pearl and the Wash Basin in Lapis Lazuli.
The flexible mesh and interlocking sections are intended to help the wave read continuously across a larger installation. Before ordering, review the intended field size, orientation and transitions at corners or changes of plane. For swimming pools, spas and other wet applications, confirm the substrate, waterproofing, adhesive, grout, movement joints and water-treatment conditions with the project installer and relevant system manufacturers.
Because lapis and Mother of Pearl react differently to light, samples are especially useful for judging the balance between deep blue mineral colour and iridescent highlights under the project lighting.
