Yewbarrow is a block print limestone design inspired by a faded Indian textile in the Victoria and Albert Museum. Rima & McRae use the source as a starting point for a repeat with strong geometry and a softened floral or decorative aspect, translating the character of worn printed cloth onto natural stone.

The result fits the Haus Series idea of a stone carpet: pattern flows across joined modules, but the mineral ground and hand-applied finish keep the surface from feeling mechanically reproduced.

Yewbarrow’s strength is the tension between structure and softness. The geometry gives the repeat a clear framework, while the textile reference introduces irregularity and a less formal decorative rhythm. Froswick on stencilled stone is more abstract and minimal, while Maidenhair moves closer to damask. Yewbarrow sits between the two, making it useful where a project needs a patterned field with both graphic order and a trace of botanical movement.

At borders, decide whether to preserve complete motifs, allow a more relaxed crop or introduce plain stone to frame the patterned area.
