This sage opus sectile pavement uses hard sage-coloured limestone polished to an egg-shell patina. De Ferranti’s opus sectile pavements can also be produced in white or ivory limestone, black limestone, tuffo and terracotta, subject to project specification. The interlocking elements are supplied over a cement backing to assist installation and create a continuous floor. The design has Roman origins and forms part of De Ferranti’s Pavimenti Collection.

Sage Opus Sectile Pavement uses the essential opus sectile principle of shaping larger pieces to fit the geometry of the composition. The method allows each stone, marble or terracotta element to carry more visual weight than a small mosaic tessera. Natural markings can therefore become part of the pattern, especially where the pieces are large enough for veining and colour shifts to remain visible.
