The Iznik ceramic basin is an entirely hand-painted piece inspired by classical Iznik ornament, with scrolling arabesques in turquoise, green and soft red arranged around a crisp white bowl. The decoration radiates from the centre to create a controlled sense of movement, turning the functional wash basin into a concentrated field of pattern and colour.

Each basin is carefully moulded in ceramic and meticulously painted by hand, so small variations form part of its individual character. After painting, the surface is glazed and fired at approximately 1200°C, sealing the decoration beneath the glaze. The first two gallery views show how the pattern changes with perspective: angled, it reads as a swirling interior; from directly above, the repeated sections resolve into a balanced circular composition framed by the white rim.

A simpler surrounding surface can give the painted arabesques sufficient visual space, while selective colour echoes elsewhere in the room can tie the basin into the scheme.
