Tessuto Mosaic

This abstract stone mosaic is a sophisticated hand-assembled composition with a tactile, textural character. Large and small tesserae are cut into circles, diamonds, triangles and squares, then carefully selected and assembled by hand. Slight indentations within the mosaic field add depth to the surface and make the mixed geometry more apparent as light moves across it. Of particular interest is the irregular nature of the smaller tesserae: although they are placed within a considered composition, no single creation will ever be exactly the same. That controlled irregularity gives the pattern movement without abandoning structure. As with De Ferranti’s wider mosaic collections, materials and colours can be customised and the composition tailored to the dimensions of a project, allowing Tessuto to work as a field, panel or more focused surface element.

Abstract Stone Mosaic with a Textile-Like Rhythm

The name Tessuto, Italian for fabric, suits a surface built from interlocking shapes and shifting scales rather than one rigid module. Arazzo Mosaic offers another textile-associated reference within the same collection, while Quilted Mosaic develops a more regular padded or stitched visual language. For projects where tactile finish is as important as pattern, Stone Surfaces with Texture broadens the material comparison, while Stone & Marble Mosaics provides the wider context for bespoke tessera fields, panels and borders.

Balancing Shape, Scale and Surface Variation

For an abstract stone mosaic, review several sections together so the larger circles, diamonds, triangles and squares are distributed deliberately across the finished area. Agree perimeter cuts and junctions before installation, particularly where the mosaic meets columns, furniture or contrasting stone. Grout colour can either quieten the mixed tessera network or make it more graphic. For floors, swimming pools and warm-climate exterior settings, confirm substrate preparation, sealing, slip requirements and exposure suitability for the selected materials and finish.
