This fragmented green stone mosaic is a random assembly of mosaic fragments, hand cut and placed by hand. Simple and eye catching, the design shows a random field mosaic. Each stone is carefully selected, cut and then assembled by hand. The slight indentations in the mosaic field enhance the beauty of this mosaic despite its simplicity. Of particular interest is the irregular nature of the small tesserae, they sing and dance. Although randomly placed, there is much to be said about artistic licence here: no single creation will ever be the same. Only the discerning eye would pick this up, a small detail with maximum impact. Fragmented Green Stone Mosaic with Larger Inclusions

Small cream, pale grey and dark green tesserae establish a varied ground. Against them, larger irregular rust and plum-coloured fragments act as isolated visual events, changing the scale of the composition. Field Mosaic – 5469H offers a more continuous dark green field, while Field Mosaic – 5469A uses the related idea of larger fragments over a more ordered chequerboard. Positioning Larger Fragments

For a fragmented green stone mosaic, the larger pieces should be considered during set-out so they remain convincingly dispersed across panel joints and perimeter cuts. Review several sheets together and move conspicuous fragments away from awkward edges where possible. Grout affects both the small tessera field and the legibility of the inclusions. Confirm sealing, substrate preparation, slip performance and exposure requirements for flooring, pools and any warm-climate exterior application.
