Totally one of a kind, this surface brings together hand-cut mosaic work with rare sections of Chemtou marble, also known as Giallo Antico or Giallo Numidia, sourced historically from North Africa. Now effectively extinct and extraordinarily difficult to obtain, this marble was prized by the Romans until supplies were exhausted.

Large geometric inserts of Chemtou are carefully cut and assembled alongside intricate, hand-laid mosaics. The entire composition is polished to a refined eggshell patina, enhancing the extraordinary depth of colour – a luminous spectrum that moves from golden yellow to warm peach, veined with dramatic natural markings.

When Chemtou became scarce, the Romans turned to Giallo Siena as an alternative. Yet the distinctive tone of Giallo Antico – its sun-warmed, almost apricot yellow – remains unmatched.

There is, understandably, a long wait for such surface combinations. This is not simply a floor or wall treatment, but a revival of a material once reserved for imperial Rome – rare, historic and impossible to replicate.
