Neisha Crosland
Obsidian Bloom Verre Églomisé Panel

This obsidian mirror panel is a dramatic verre églomisé composition in which pale blossoms and fine botanical linework are crossed by sweeping dark gestures. Metal leaf and hand-painted detailing are applied to the reverse of the glass before controlled antiquing develops depth, texture and a shifting balance between reflection and opacity.

Chalk-white flowers, blush-pink accents and fine black drawing sit against bands of deep brown-black and softer silvered passages. The dark horizontal movement is almost calligraphic, while etched-looking lines describe petals, leaves and seed heads with precision. The contrast makes the floral imagery feel delicate without becoming fragile, and the aged mirror ground introduces visual movement across the whole panel.

Obsidian Mirror Panel With Floral Linework

Obsidian Bloom is more graphic than the Nocturne Floral Verre Églomisé Panel, which uses a softer monochromatic botanical silhouette. The Gilded Damask Verre Églomisé Panel provides another high-contrast treatment, but with formal repeating ornament rather than loose botanical drawing. These comparisons can help determine whether a project requires painterly movement, classical pattern or quieter antiquing.

The obsidian mirror panel can be considered for feature walls, decorative screens, furniture inserts, doors and other supported interior applications. Where several panels are joined, establish how the strong dark bands and principal blossoms will cross seams. The composition should be reviewed alongside fixed furniture and sightlines so important details are not interrupted.

Planning a High-Contrast Verre Églomisé Scheme

Assess samples vertically under the intended light, as the obsidian-toned areas can shift from near-opaque to subtly reflective. Confirm panel dimensions, orientation, edges, fixing method and cut-outs before production. De Ferranti’s Stencilled, Painted Stone & Marble collection offers a useful opaque counterpart for projects combining graphic painted surfaces with mirror. A full-size mock-up is recommended where the panel forms a principal artwork or large wall treatment.
