This faded scroll mirror is an atmospheric verre églomisé panel in which an ornamental scroll motif is deliberately softened beneath layers of antiqued patina. Traditional reverse-glass gilding and distressing allow the pattern to sit within the aged mirror rather than appear sharply on its surface.

Muted greys, silvers and warm mineral undertones form a mottled ground, while scrolling decoration emerges and recedes through areas of foxing and oxidation. The reduced reflectivity gives the panel a material quality somewhere between mirror and mural, with the motif changing in emphasis as light and viewpoint shift.

The scrollwork is intentionally incomplete in appearance. Some passages remain legible while others dissolve into the patinated field, which prevents the repeated ornament from becoming visually rigid.
