This white gold micromosaic border uses tiny hand-set tesserae to create a softly reflective surface with subtle wave-like movement. Hundreds of miniature elements are arranged in a gently undulating pattern, allowing light to travel across the band like ripples on water. The white gold tone produces a restrained metallic glow rather than a hard mirror-like shine. Its scale and rhythm make the border suitable as a liner, frieze or accent band, and the existing De Ferranti specification also places it in applications including feature walls, furniture, screens, columns, doors and fireplace surrounds. Natural variation in alignment and reflectivity is part of the hand-set character.
Unlike a stone border, this design changes with viewpoint and illumination. The white gold micromosaic border can therefore define an edge without relying on strong colour contrast. It is particularly effective beside quieter stone, plaster or larger-format materials where the metallic tesserae provide a precise line of light.
Micromosaic Corner Border offers a richer hardstone alternative, while Polychrome Diamond Marble Mosaic Border introduces warm geometric colour. Designers exploring other reflective tesserae can also review Metal Mosaics and Borders – Various Disciplines.
Assess the border under the actual or representative project lighting wherever possible, since directional light changes the way individual tesserae read. Set out corner conditions, terminations and junctions with adjacent surfaces before installation. A physical sample is especially useful for reviewing reflectivity, grout relationship, tessera scale and the balance between the white gold tone and neighbouring materials and finishes.
