These Paktong silver briquettes are lustrous German Silver Briquettes from De Ferranti’s ‘Alchemy’ Collection. The briquettes have a surface of hand-patinated Silver and are bonded to a marine ply base. They can be used on walls or floors. Also available in Brass, Bronze and Copper, tiles in different metals can be used together to create patterns. Bespoke sizes and finishes are available to order.

Paktong Silver Briquettes and Cool Metallic Colour

Paktong and German Silver belong to a long decorative-metal vocabulary. Museum collections identify paktong with silver-coloured alloy work in both Chinese objects and eighteenth-century British metalwork. De Ferranti’s surface uses that cooler material character in a compact rectangular module, with hand-working and patination preventing the tiles from reading as flat, industrial sheet metal. Close viewing reveals fine texture and mottling, while a larger installation creates a quieter silver-grey field.
