These hammered Paktong briquettes are lustrous metal tiles from De Ferranti’s ‘Alchemy’ Collection. The briquettes have a surface of hand-patinated Paktong Silver and are bonded to a marine ply base. They can be used on walls or floors. Also available in Brass, Bronze and Copper, tiles in different metals can be used together to create patterns. Bespoke sizes and finishes are available to order.

Hammered Paktong Briquettes and German Silver

Paktong has a long history as a silver-coloured decorative metal. Museum collections use the name for objects identified with German Silver, including Chinese metalwork and eighteenth-century British pieces. In this contemporary surface, the material is worked into rectangular briquettes whose dense texture scatters reflection rather than producing a mirror-like finish.
