German Silver Parquet de Versailles

Painstakingly beaten and assembled individually by hand, these German silver parquet panels are from De Ferranti’s ‘Alchemy’ Collection. Each individual piece is nailed and bonded to a marine ply base. Also available in Brass, Bronze and Copper, different metals can be used together to create patterns. Bespoke sizes and finishes are available to order.

German Silver Parquet Panels and Versailles Geometry

The composition reinterprets the framed, interlocking geometry associated with Parquet de Versailles in a cool silver-toned metal surface. The Palace of Versailles is a defining setting for seventeenth-century French decorative art, and the parquet language associated with such interiors remains recognisable because of its disciplined square panels and complex internal geometry. Here, hand-beaten metal changes the material reading while retaining that ordered visual structure.

A material contrast can be seen in De Ferranti’s Parquet de Versailles in Leather, where the same broad geometric tradition is expressed in hide. Within the Alchemy Collection, Paktong Silver Planks create a more linear silver surface and Paktong Silver Briquettes offer a smaller rectangular module.

Setting Out a Versailles Metal Floor

German silver parquet panels should be planned from the room geometry rather than treated as an incidental repeat. Panel centres, perimeter cuts, thresholds and transitions all influence the finished balance. Samples should also be reviewed under the intended lighting because hand-worked German Silver can shift from softly reflective to more textural as the viewing angle changes. This is especially important in rooms where the parquet panel is intended to establish the primary visual axis. For adjoining metal detailing, German Silver Skirting – Paktong Profile provides a related material reference.
