Verde Eygum, also listed in the stone trade as Eygum Green or Verde Eugeum, is a rare luxury green marble associated with the Italian cipollino and Cardoso marble tradition. Admired for its layered green, grey, white and mineral banding, it has the directional rhythm and folded movement that make cipollino marbles so distinctive. While Verde Eygum itself appears to be a specialist modern trade name rather than a securely documented ancient Roman marble, it belongs visually and materially to the wider cipollino family, a group of green-banded marbles and calc-schists prized since antiquity for columns, wall linings and architectural decoration. Italian cipollino varieties are closely linked with the Apuan Alps and Tuscany, including the historic marble landscapes around Stazzema, Cardoso and Versilia.
