Onice Arco Iris Cross Cut is a rare luxury rainbow onyx admired for its translucent yellow, amber, cream, honey and soft green movement. The name Onice Arco Iris means “rainbow onyx”, a fitting description for a stone whose layered mineral colour can appear luminous, clouded and almost painterly when cut across the block.

Unlike vein-cut onyx, where the bands tend to run in long directional lines, the cross-cut selection reveals a softer, more atmospheric pattern, with pooled colour, mineral halos and natural depth.

While Onice Arco Iris is a contemporary luxury onyx rather than a single classical marble of antiquity, it belongs to the wider family of translucent onyx and alabaster stones prized since ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman times for vessels, carved objects, sacred interiors and decorative architectural detail.

Its ability to diffuse light makes it especially powerful for backlit panels, bar fronts, bathrooms, vanity tops, wall features, furniture and statement interiors where rare onyx, luminosity and material atmosphere are central to the design.

Planning a Cross-Cut Surface

Cross cutting creates broad, diffuse zones rather than continuous linear bands. Review the selected slab for yellow, pink and pale green variation, and test illumination on the actual piece if backlighting will form part of the installation. For paired panels, review both pieces together so the softer yellow and pink transitions do not become abruptly concentrated at a single joint.
