Chocolate Onyx is a richly coloured decorative onyx defined by a deep brown field and elegant cream, caramel and toffee striations. The surface can combine broad banding with clouded or rounded mineral formations, giving the stone greater visual depth than a uniformly veined brown marble. Polished surfaces can emphasise these transitions, while honed finishes generally give the darker tones a quieter, softer reading.

The existing De Ferranti example is shown at approximately 165 x 60 cm, with panels customisable to various sizes and a stated maximum size of 165 x 160 cm. These dimensions should be confirmed against the material currently available before a project is designed around a particular panel size.

As a calcitic decorative onyx, the material belongs to the family often traded as onyx marble rather than the quartz gemstone onyx. Its appeal in interiors comes from rich colour, layered mineral pattern and, where the selected piece allows, natural translucency. Size, Layout and Light

Review the actual panel before cutting to establish how the strongest cream seams and darker brown zones fall within the finished element. For adjacent pieces, dry layout helps maintain continuity. If backlighting is being considered, test the specific material because translucency, colour density and visible fissures vary from piece to piece.
