Brèche de Médous is a rare historic French marble breccia from Médous and Asté, near Bagnères-de-Bigorre in the Hautes-Pyrénées. Admired for its angular fragments of black, grey, yellow, ochre and warmer mineral tones, this distinctive Pyrenean marble has the fractured, architectural depth associated with antique breccia stones.

The Musée du Marbre in Bagnères-de-Bigorre records several varieties, including Brèche de Médous, Brèche de Médous Grise and Brèche de Médous Jaune, confirming its place within the historic marble culture of the Hautes-Pyrénées.

Used in French decorative stonework, including 19th and early 20th-century fireplace surrounds, furniture and architectural interiors, Brèche de Médous is especially suited to luxury interiors, statement panels, bathrooms, fireplace surrounds, decorative slabs and projects where rare marbles, historic provenance and natural character are central to the design.

Brèche de Médous and Pyrenean Breccias

The combination of dark angular fragments and warm ochre matrix gives Brèche de Médous a notably graphic character. Brèche St Maximin offers a lighter red and cream French comparison, while Campan Grand Mélange introduces the stronger pink, burgundy and green movement associated with another celebrated Pyrenean stone.
