Campan Grand Mélange
Campan Mélange, also known as Campan Grand Mélange, is a rare historic French marble from the Campan valley in the Hautes-Pyrénées, one of the great decorative marble regions of France. Quarried around Campan and Espiadet, this richly coloured stone is admired for its expressive mixture of green, pink, red, burgundy, white and grey tones, often crossed by strong veining and calcite movement. Campan marbles were used extensively at Versailles during the reign of Louis XIV, including for fireplaces, wall panels and grand architectural decoration, with Campan Vert and Campan Grand Mélange appearing in the Escalier de la Reine, or Queen’s Staircase.
With its historic royal associations, dramatic colouring and unmistakable Pyrenean provenance, Campan Mélange is especially suited to luxury interiors, statement panels, bathrooms, fireplace surrounds, furniture, decorative slabs and projects where rare marbles, historic provenance and architectural character are essential.
