Neisha Crosland
Tan Brogue Border Briquettes

These tan brogue leather briquettes are inspired by time-worn English brogue leather shoes. The pieces are veneered over a marine ply substrate for ease of installation. After embossing with the brogue design, they are painstakingly coloured, patinated and distressed before receiving a coat of sealer and wax.

De Ferranti also offers fully customised embossing, colouring and special commission work. Other standard Hide Collection designs include paviers and Parquet de Versailles.

Tan Brogue Leather Briquettes and Border Detail

The brogue perforation gives each rectangular piece a tailored edge, making the joints an active part of the pattern. Warm tan, russet and darker brown passages reinforce the hand-finished character. For a lighter comparison, see Natural Brogue Leather Briquettes. The Chocolate Leather Brogue Border Tile shows how a similar decorative language can be used as a perimeter or transition element.

Pattern Direction and Sample Review

Before confirming a layout, establish the direction of the briquettes and how the border detailing will meet at thresholds, edges and changes of material. Samples are useful for assessing the degree of patina, embossed contrast and natural grain across the tan leather. The broader Hide Collection includes square and parquet formats, while the Molly Leather Collection offers an alternative etched pattern with a more graphic, textile-led repeat.

Where the briquettes form a border or framed panel, test corner conditions before final cutting. The embossed edge is most effective when the meeting points feel intentional and remain visually continuous.

For wall applications, horizontal or vertical orientation will change the emphasis of the rectangular format, so the intended direction should be reviewed with adjoining joinery and other finishes.
