From De Ferranti’s Magma Collection, Velvet Magma is a two-tone lava brick that gives a softer, more atmospheric expression to our Lava heritage. Inspired by the molten landscapes of Santorini and Mount Etna, this two-tone glazed lava brick combines raw volcanic strength with a velvet-like surface depth.
Split-faced and subtly tonal, each briquette carries organic movement across its surface. The two-tone glazing enhances texture and light interaction, creating shadow play that shifts throughout the day.
Like all De Ferranti lava, Velvet Magma withstands extremely high temperatures. It behaves much like ceramic: it can be glazed, fired and customised, yet retains the geological integrity of volcanic stone.
Available in: 20 x 5 cm and 40 x 5 cm. Supplied as split-faced glazed lava bricks.
Ideal for dramatic wall features, spa environments, pool surrounds and statement vertical installations. When carefully lit, the surface becomes almost liquid, as though magma is slowly rising through the architecture.
Bespoke glaze colours and decorative patterns available on request.
The visible surface moves through dark taupe, pewter and warm bronze-grey tones, with the split face catching light across raised and recessed areas. This softer palette distinguishes Velvet Magma from the darker Heavy Metal, while Pinstripe Lava Bricks introduces a sharper striped contrast within the same material family.
For a two-tone lava brick installation, samples should be viewed under the project’s intended lighting because colour and reflectivity can change across the relief. Consider how the two available lengths will be mixed, where joints will fall and how corners or terminations will be handled. De Ferranti’s Stone Surfaces with Texture collection offers further context for combining tactile mineral finishes.
