Hand-painted in Southern Italy, the design is described as Sicilian in origin and 19th century in character. Olive gives the repeat a grounded quality that sits naturally with the warmth of the terracotta body beneath the painted surface.

The linked corner roses help the decoration continue across grout joints, while scrolling pale forms give the pattern definition.
