The Rosellina saffron terracotta tile combines off-white floral and corner-rose geometry with a warm yellow-orange ground. Painted by hand in a Southern Italian artisan studio, the pattern is recorded as Sicilian in origin and 19th century in character. Its sunlit colour gives the formal repeat warmth, making it suitable for rooms where decoration should feel established but not sombre.

Pale scrolling motifs and linked corner roses extend across adjoining modules, creating a continuous patterned field. The saffron ground moves subtly between yellow, ochre and orange passages according to brush density and firing. These variations, together with small differences in the off-white linework, give the surface the individuality expected from handmade terracotta.

For a bolder warm option, Rosellina Red intensifies the background colour, while Rosellina Lilac provides a quieter counterpoint using the same decorative framework. Elsewhere at De Ferranti, Golden Citron MC29 can supply a lively plain glazed companion, and Neisha Crosland’s Can-Can in Primrose explores floral movement in a lighter yellow colourway.

Using Saffron in an Interior Scheme

The tile can bring warmth to kitchens, bathrooms, entrance halls, staircases, restaurants, fireplace surrounds and decorative wall panels. Interior flooring and selected warm-climate exterior settings may also be considered, subject to project specification. Saffron works readily with terracotta, pale limestone, warm plaster, oak, walnut and aged metal. Before installation, review a sample panel to establish the preferred grout colour and confirm how the linked corner roses will continue around thresholds, corners and fitted joinery. Handmade tonal variation should be blended evenly across the area.
