Sandcast Copper Inlay Windmill Tile

This copper sandstone inlay tile pairs warm sandcast copper with calm beige sandstone in a rotating windmill composition. Cast copper elements are set into precision-cut recesses in the stone and finished to form a clean unified plane while retaining the tactile contrast between metal and mineral surface.

Curved copper blades create the pinwheel movement. Subtle texture in the sandcast metal adds depth and an aged character, while the sandstone keeps the palette grounded. The current product page also confirms an antiqued finish and notes that alternative metals, stones, pattern scales and finishes can be commissioned.

Copper Sandstone Inlay Tile with Windmill Geometry

The motif is directional without becoming linear. Each curved blade turns around a central point, and repetition extends that rotation across a wider surface. Copper introduces changing highlights and warm reddish tones against the quieter beige stone, so the pattern can become more pronounced under focused illumination and softer in diffuse daylight.

The Pinwheel Brass into Sandstone Tile offers the closest material comparison in brass, while the Sandcast Brass Cabochon Inlay in Black Limestone replaces rotation with a compact quatrefoil emblem. De Ferranti’s Metal Floor & Wall Tiles provides further references for surfaces where patina and changing reflectivity are part of the design.

Planning for Copper Patina and Repeat

Dry lay several copper sandstone inlay tiles before fixing to establish consistent rotation and assess natural variation in both cast metal and stone. The live page supports feature floors, borders, panels and centrepieces, with applications including bathrooms, churches, commercial interiors, kitchens, restaurants, walling and yachts. Copper will change in appearance with handling, environment and maintenance, so the desired care approach should be agreed early. Confirm substrate, sealing, joints and project-specific suitability before installation.
