This pewter glazed Delft tile is handmade and handglazed using the traditional techniques of the Delft artisans, but represents a totally new concept. These unique tiles are perfect for a contemporary interior.

Each tile has subtle variations of patina that make the play of light on a surface that much more interesting. These colourways are exquisite additions to De Ferranti’s forever expanding Delft range.

Pewter Glazed Delft Tile and Tonal Variation

The Pewter surface moves across a broad spectrum of silver-grey, soft graphite and deeper charcoal. Some tiles have an even, clouded appearance, while others carry stippled markings, diffuse patches and darker areas around the edges. These variations give an assembled wall greater depth than a uniformly coloured grey tile.

Although the colour suggests aged metal, Pewter retains the material character of glazed ceramic. Its softly reflective surface responds to natural and artificial light without creating the sharp glare associated with polished metal or mirror. The resulting finish can appear cooler, darker or more silvered as lighting conditions change across the installation.

A selection of tiles should be reviewed together during project planning so that lighter, darker and more prominently marked pieces can be distributed across the surface. The colourway can be considered for bathroom walls, kitchen splashbacks, fireplace surrounds, alcoves and larger interior wall fields, subject to the appropriate technical specification.

Within the same Delft collection, Charcoal provides a darker handmade glaze with related patina variation. Marbre Smoke offers a lighter alternative, using smoke-brown marbling across a warm ivory ground.
