Angelica

Angelica is a nickel silver angel sculpture fashioned from Alpaca. De Ferranti specialises in sandcasting and lost wax casting. Commissions have included candelabras, customised chandeliers, staircase balustrades, sculptures, jali screens, speaker grilles, room dividers, washstand supports, mirror frames, studs and even belt buckles for a superyacht crew. Our casting materials include brass, Alpaca, nickel, iron, bronze and other alloys.

Nickel Silver Angel Sculpture and Foundry Character

Angelica is less about decoration applied to metal than form created through metal. Its silver-toned surface is highly reflective, while the wings carry curving lines that become more legible as the viewing angle changes. Frontally, the figure reads with strong symmetry. From the three-quarter view, the depth of the wings and modelling of the body become more apparent.

Alpaca is a name used for nickel silver alloys, a family of copper, nickel and zinc metals valued for their silvery appearance. The material therefore gives this nickel silver angel sculpture the visual character of silver without implying sterling silver.

For related metalwork, De Ferranti’s Architectural Elements in Metal collection extends casting into larger interior elements. Embossed & Repoussé Relief Work in Metal explores a different tradition of forming relief, while Objects & Artifacts brings together sculptural and functional pieces across a wider material palette.

Positioning, Lighting and Project Specification

Because Angelica is sculptural rather than a surface finish, sightline and lighting are central. A plinth, console, niche or freestanding position can be considered in relation to the wings and reflective surface, but dimensions, weight, fixing and support requirements should be confirmed before specification. Directional light can accentuate the modelling and wing pattern, while softer ambient light gives the metal a quieter presence.

Angelica can also serve as a material reference for related cast-metal commissions. Confirm alloy, finish, dimensions and mounting requirements with De Ferranti for any project-specific piece.
