Decorative Objects & Artifacts

De Ferranti’s cast metal decorative objects draw on the company’s unique ability to fuse extraordinary craft skills with modern technology, providing purpose-designed solutions for contemporary interiors, from private homes to luxury yachts and private jets.

Advanced bonding techniques such as lightweight veneers and honeycomb panels allow De Ferranti to manufacture specialist wall and floor finishes. Complementing this, the Decorative Objects commissioning service offers lighting, table tops, frames, sculptures and many smaller decorative objects. Made to special order, they encapsulate all that is rare and special about De Ferranti’s work.

Cast metal decorative objects and foundry craft

Within this category, casting is treated as both a sculptural language and a practical route to project-specific interior elements. De Ferranti specialises in sandcasting and lost wax casting, or cire perdue, working in brass, Alpaca, nickel, iron, bronze and other alloys. These foundry techniques belong to long traditions of sculptural and decorative metalwork, yet remain equally relevant to contemporary commissions. Each method allows form, relief, texture and detail to be developed through the mould and subsequent hand finishing.

The resulting work can move from intimate ornament to lighting, candelabra, mirror frames and sculptural pieces. Angelica, fashioned from Alpaca, demonstrates how cast metal decorative objects can sit between artefact, sculpture and interior detail.

From sculpture to commissioned metalwork

The same foundry knowledge can be applied at very different scales. Previous commissions have included customised chandeliers, staircase balustrades, sculptures, jali screens, speaker grilles, room dividers, washstand supports, mirror frames and studs, even belt buckles for a superyacht crew.

For larger integrated elements, explore Architectural Elements in Metal and Embossed & Repoussé Relief Work in Metal. The wider Objects & Artifacts collection extends the conversation into carved stone, crystal, inlay and other specialist materials, allowing a project to be developed through related craft traditions rather than a single material language.
