Basalt Current – Inlay Cement Tile

This charcoal inlay cement tile sets pale rectangular pieces into flowing bands across a charcoal-grey mineral field, creating a rippled pattern with strong movement and a restrained palette. Basalt Current is cast from pigmented cement with a speckled, stone-like body, then inlaid with pale rectangular and square pieces that drift in undulating rows. The layout feels like contour lines or water currents, giving the tile rhythm without a rigid repeat. Deep mineral grey against crisp white inlay makes it easy to pair with natural stone, timber, brass, blackened metal or plain cement fields. Use it as a feature wall, shower panel, floor insert or full field where you want pattern to read as part of the material rather than surface decoration. Expect the quiet variation of hand-crafted cement tiles, including subtle tonal shifts and small irregularities that add depth once installed. A warm grey or charcoal grout will keep the pattern cohesive and reduce visual grid lines.

Charcoal Inlay Cement Tile and Béton Brut

Brutalism made exposed concrete, or béton brut, a subject of design in its own right, including the texture and evidence of making. Basalt Current takes a more intimate decorative route: dark cement remains visually dominant while pale inlay behaves almost like a current drawn through it. Ash Confetti offers a quieter scattered rhythm, while Charcoal Scroll intensifies contrast through stone tesserae. The wider Pavements collection provides further approaches to patterned floors.

Setting Out the Flowing Pattern

With this charcoal inlay cement tile, dry-lay a representative area before fixing so the undulating bands move naturally across joints and principal sightlines. Decide whether grout should disappear into the charcoal field or define each module. Confirm sealing, substrate, joint width, slip requirements and warm-climate exterior suitability for the particular project before installation.
